Forests Monitor, in collaboration with Resource Extraction Monitoring, FERN, and the Centre for the Environment and Development held a workshop in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo in July 2009. The workshop facilitated national exchange on forest governance issues and strengthened the capacity of 23 civil society representatives from 19 organisations in developing SMART logical frameworks that can be used to develop efficient work plans and successful proposals. Regional workshop: civil society capacity building, IM-FLEG
Forests Monitor, in collaboration with Resource Extraction Monitoring (REM), FERN, and the Centre for the Environment and Development (CED) held a regional workshop in Brazzaville in March 2009. The workshop facilitated regional exchange on forest governance issues and strengthened the technical capacity of 22 civil society representatives from Gabon, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, and Democratic Republic of Congo in independent monitoring of forest law enforcement and governance. Second Regional Workshop: civil society capacity building, IM-FLEG
Forests Monitor, in collaboration with Resource Extraction Monitoring (REM), held a regional workshop in Brazzaville in October 2009. The workshop followed up on the first regional workshop held in March 2009 to offer more in-depth technical trainings in document inspection techniques, measuring log and timber volumes, GPS use and other skills needed to carry out field investigations. In addition, the first draft of the Forest Monitor IM-FLEG training manual was reviewed by participants. All trainees will receive the manual once it has been updated according to participant feedback. A total of 24 representatives from 19 civil society organisations in Gabon, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, and Democratic Republic of Congo participated in the 3 day workshop. Central African Republic Workshops
FM, in collaboration with FERN, organised a training workshop in Bangui (CAR) in September 2008 (between the 22nd and the 24th). You can download a French language pdf of the report from HERE.
