The primary assessors of all phases
of logging and export operations were employees of ITC during the harvesting,
loading and export of round logs from Sisiga on Isabel (and it is assumed
in all aspects of the logging and export operation). The TCU representative
at Buala (Mr. Savakana Smith) stated that he has no telephone, has to rely
on fuel handouts from logging companies to get to log dumps, and has little
access to field logging operations and only a sample of log export operations.
This situation is clearly unacceptable and is one of the most fundamental
aspects of sustainable management which requires rectification on Isabel.
